Nursing Home Resident Victim of Alleged Abuse Caught on Audio Tape

A caregiver who worked at the Westminster Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina has been struck off their job amid allegations that they abused a 91-year old resident.

The name of the alleged abuser has not been released as Westminster police investigate the claims made against them by the elderly lady’s son. Police say that the alleged victim told her son that she was scared of her caregiver who had allegedly grabbed the woman so hard that it resulted in a wound that needed stitches.

The police were approached by the resident’s son who told them that his mother had complained of being verbally and physically abused. The son had taken the initiative of putting an audio recorder in his mother’s room which captured a heated argument between the caregiver and the patient. Reports also stated that the patient was pulled so hard out of bed by the caregiver that her skin was torn.

Westminster officials and the State Department of Health and Environmental Control are looking into the case.
