universitydegreeHouston, TX – On January 15th 2012, Nursing Home Abuse.net in partnership with Education Aid, Inc. will begin accepting applications for its “Nursing Home Abuse.net – Awareness and Prevention Scholarship.” This scholarship is the first of its kind and has been created not only to give a worthy student financial support, but also to promote the prevention of nursing home abuse.

“We feel that this is a very important and pressing issue that many people aren’t aware of,” said a representative of Nursing Home Abuse.net. “By funding this scholarship, we are giving a deserving student the ability to complete their degree, something they may not have had the opportunity to do otherwise, and we are essentially recruiting someone who we feel will help us raise awareness of nursing home abuse and help improve the plight of seniors in their community.” The organization went on to add that the scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who has experienced the consequences of nursing home abuse firsthand through a close friend or relative and is passionate about preventing further abuse in the community, and/or an applicant that is looking to pursue a career providing help or healthcare for the elderly.
