Couple Arrested In Elder Physical Abuse Case in Georgia

A Georgia police chief has called a trial that is underway one of the worst cases of elder abuse that he has ever seen, after a woman and her boyfriend have been charged with abusing the woman’s elderly mother.

Maria Wiggins and her boyfriend Michael Nesmith from Garden City, Savannah in Georgia, are being investigated for physically abusing Wiggin’s disabled mother. Some of the horrendous acts they committed included dragging her around the house and denying her food. Wiggin’s 68-year old mother also had social security money and prescription drugs stolen by the abominable pair.

The Garden City police department became aware of this case after the victim was found at a hospital with bruises. Luckily, she has now been take to a nursing home, away from her daughter.
